 The Happiness Project lessons are a series of 10 online lessons for Year 6 classes.Â
The sessions are to be delivered in a therapeutic, connective way and are aimed at supporting children’s own self-awareness, wellbeing and mental health whilst focusing on important topics that will help inform their personal development as they grow.

Getting Started
The Happiness Project lessons are designed to teach Year 6 children about their mental health and wellbeing and open up discussions on important topics such as social media and body image. They are taught by Shahana Knight through a series of online videos with the opportunity to pause for discussions, activities and lots more! Here's what you need to know..
Class Rules
As a class, watch the two videos to find out what's important for the sessions from respect and looking after each other to being brave enough to share your own thoughts and experiences.

Lesson 1: Anger Management
This session teaches children how the brain works, how anger impacts our behaviour and what we can do to notice and manage it.
Lesson 2: Self-concept
This session teaches children about self-concepts, how it develops over time and the control we have over it.

Lesson 3:Â Feelings
This session teaches children about feelings - how to identify them, understand them and be in control of them.
Lesson 4: Mindset
This session teaches children about mindset and how we can be aware of it and change it when necessary.
Lesson 5: Success vs. Failure
This session teaches children about resilience, the difference between success and failure and the power of failure as a stepping stone to success.
Lesson 6: SATs Stress Buster
This session explores how the children are feeling about SATs and looks at feelings of worry and stress. The session teaches children about strategies for managing stress and positive affirmations
Lesson 7: Stress Buster
Note: This session is broadly the same as the SATs Stress Buster but can be used for more general stress management techniques or for year groups where SATs is not relevant.
Lesson 8: Body Image
This session teaches children about body image, positive and negative language, the power of mindset and the important of embracing and celebrating differences.
Lesson 9: Social Media and Technology
This session teaches children about the impact of having phones and technology on our behaviour and on our lives and the importance of real life play and interaction.
Lesson 10: Mindfulness
This session teaches children about wellbeing and what might impact it, as well as mindfulness tools and techniques.
