August ABC Results - Take a Break and TVChoice Still Selling Over 1 million Copies a Week

H. Bauer, the largest privately owned publisher in Europe, stands firm with top selling titles Take a Break and TVChoice still delivering sales of over 1million a week in a fiercely competitive magazine market.
- Market-leader Take a Break delivers weekly sales of 1,018,423 copies. This is still streets ahead of its rivals and is down only (0.8%) period on period and (5.9%) year on year, despite fierce price-cutting and bagged sampling activity from competitors.
- TVChoice yet again outperforms its rivals in the TV listings market with its 13th consecutive ABC increase. With sales of 1,391,774 a week, this is up +2.8% period on period and up +8.1% year on year and equates to an additional 100, 000 sales per week.
- Total TVguide is the only other title in the TV listings sector to show continued growth and posts an ABC figure of 112,534, up +2.8% period on period and +11.1% year on year.
- TVQuick has posted an ABC figure of 224,799 whilst this is down (8.7%) period on period and (14.3%) year on year, it continues to provide a unique offering in the listings market by combining a women's magazine with comprehensive TV listings.
- that's life! posts an ABC of 443,604. This represents a more solid sales base than many rivals who have resorted to gimmicks and price promotions in an attempt to boost sales. Sales are down only (4.6%) period on period and (9.5%) year on year.
- Bella was repositioned to include a celebrity on the cover from March 2007. With sales of 247,390 its ABC is down (21.8%) period on period and (25.4%) year on year. This was an anticipated fall out from more traditional classics readers, sales have now levelled and plans are in place to expand its audience this Autumn.
- Spirit & Destiny, H. Bauer's monthly spiritual and astrology magazine, has posted an ABC figure of 73,455 this is down (8.2%) period on period and (13.1%) year on year but is due to a deliberate reduction in free sample copies distributed.
